What Does Organic Mean?

Organic can be described as a process and result of certain techniques like crop
rotation, biological pest control or botanical manure which were followed by
the sages in the ancient times to keep the land and the crop pure. According to
the National Centre of Organic Farming, organic farming is such a management
system which is beneficial for both the environment and the farmers. In this
system, no synthetic material is used.

Organic means the farming done in a natural way without the use of any
artificial techniques. Nothing is cent percent organic, but the farming done in
purlieus can be called organic because the poor farmers in such places do not
have sufficient funds to buy chemical fertilisers. Hence, the farming is done
without them and it depends on the rains. The crops cultivated on such land
are free from pesticides to much extent. The water of river Ganga is used for
irrigation in these regions, but that water is not clean. It too has impurities.
Speaking honestly, even if any crop is cultivated naturally, it would be organic
to 90%. The crops that we grow at Sajeevan Organic Farm are cultivated with
natural fertilisers like the leaves of the neem (azadirachta indica) tree, rain
water and other natural materials. This fortifies the land and the people to
much extent from harmful results.
